We offer specialized care where each client receives an individualized treatment program designed specifically for them, and our therapists work one-on-one with each client. Each treatment program our treatment center provides will include this tailored approach, this includes weekly, bi-weekly, monthly sessions and our OCD intensive therapy program. Clients are guided throughout treatment utilizing the most effective strategies to fight OCD. If you are prepared, and willing to dedicate the time and energy to reclaim a life that you have yearned for, then we are ready to walk with you every step of the way to help overcome your battle. With strong commitment, motivation, and will, you can free yourself from the clutches of OCD, and return to a life where you control the OCD without the OCD controlling you!

The Gateway Institute 3-Week IOP Program

Our renowned 3-week IOP program is the most effective treatment for advanced cases of OCD. Clients in this intensive track receive 45+ hours of individual support, 24/7 access to a licensed therapist, and ongoing exposure response prevention (ERP). We also offer home visits and a step-down program into structured aftercare to reinforce treatment gains.

Graduates from our 3-week program generally achieve faster and more sustainable progress than clients receiving months or years of traditional outpatient therapy. Their progress provides momentum to continue managing symptoms and making positive changes. We offer our IOP program in San Francisco, Orange County, and Arizona, and we have travel packages available at each location.

TGI = Intensive Outpatient Program Results

The Gateway Institute offers a 3-week Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program for OCD utilizing the most effective approaches currently available for treatment. Across all sites, we see a consistent level of improvement over the course of our program.

Yale Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (YBOCS)

This 10-item measure rates the severity and type of symptoms. It measures both obsessions and compulsions and is used to monitor symptom improvement during treatment. Scores range from 0 (no symptoms) to 40 (extreme symptoms). Patients scoring in the mild or higher range are likely experiencing a significant negative impact on their quality of life.

Upon admission, the average score reported by individuals showed an average score measured by the YBOCS of 29. After the 3-week intensive program, the average score at discharge was 14 representing a mild level of OCD.

Personal Stories

Kristiana's OCD Story

“OCD popped up in many areas of my life from the time I was a young child. The things OCD made me do seemed natural at a young age. Growing up, everyone in my family knew there was something particular about me, however nobody ever suspected it could be related to this disorder.”Kristiana has lived with OCD since she was a young child. She received treatment from The Gateway Institute in 2015.

Ana

Ana's OCD Story

“I started seeing Chris Trondsen in October 2015 and by following his steps through ERP, he has helped change my life in so many ways. It is extremely hard to go through treatment because you are constantly being faced with your worst fears.”
