Dr. Lakin has always been committed to providing treatments based on scientific evidence, which led to his strong interest in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD. He founded the San Mateo CBT Clinic to provide evidence-based treatments to children and adults experiencing OCD and other anxiety disorders. He joined the Gateway Institute in order to continue providing these highly effective treatments in an intensive outpatient (IOP) setting, which helps provide rapid relief from OCD.
Prior to founding his own anxiety disorders clinic, Dr. Lakin worked at the East Bay Behavior Therapy Center providing evidence-based treatments, as well as supervising graduate students at the Wright Institute’s CBT Clinic and The Gronowski Center (Palo Alto University).
Dr. Lakin is passionate about treating OCD and anxiety disorders because of his desire to help clients see progress in a relatively short period of time. He has repeatedly helped clients to learn that they are stronger than they thought they were, and to embrace uncertainty in the service of a living a fuller, happier life.
