Shivani Patel
Shivani is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who specializes in the treatment of
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety-related conditions. She earned her Master’s
in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and completed her undergraduate studies in
Psychology and Social Behavior at the University of California, Irvine.
After completing her graduate program, Shivani worked in a private practice setting in Newport
Beach, California. She supported individuals with anxiety, trauma, depression, and OCD. Over
time, she developed a strong interest in working with OCD, which led her to join the OCD
Anxiety Centers in Corona, California. She received in-depth training in evidence-based
approaches and treated individuals across a wide age range from children as young as 9 to
adults in their 60s at the Intensive Outpatient level of care. She worked with a broad spectrum of
OCD subtypes including contamination, harm, existentialism, perfectionism, and taboo thoughts.
Her ability to tailor treatment to the unique presentation of each individual allowed her to support
meaningful progress and long term recovery.
Shivani utilizes a direct, collaborative, and compassionate approach, integrating modalities such
as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She is committed to helping her clients confront
their fears and reclaim their lives. One of the most rewarding aspects of her work is seeing the
transformation as clients learn to face uncertainty and begin to live a life with freedom and
intention.
To ensure she provides the highest quality of care, Shivani regularly engages in continued
education and stays current with the latest research and advancements in OCD treatment. She
attends professional training, consults with individuals in the field, and incorporates evidence
based techniques in her clinical work.
Shivani is currently part of the clinical team at the Gateway Institute where she focuses on
treating OCD and related disorders. In her private telehealth practice, she continues to work
with individuals facing a wide range of challenges including anxiety, trauma, relationship issues,
and life transitions.
